The man who gave life to the puppets

A  puppet  play  about  the  history  of  traditional  Thai  puppetry

This is the story about Grand Master Puppeteer Sakorn Yangkhieosot
and his childhood apprenticeship under Grand Master Puppeteer Krae
Saptawanich, founder of the form of puppetry performed at the
Traditional Thai Puppet Theater.   It is the story of the creation and early
days of this art form, its premature loss of popularity through war and
social changes, its destruction by conflagration, its preservation against
the odds by the sole surviving exponent, Puppeteer Sakorn
Yangkhieosot, who transmitted the art to his children until, with the
recognition and blessing of His Majesty King Bhumibhol of Thailand
and the support of other senior members of the Thai Royal Family, the
art was revived and attained international fame.  The Traditional Thai
Puppet Theater has recently developed the art of puppetry in a new
direction – the art of ‘Human Puppetry’.

It is the story of a legend.
